Merlot

Merlot has been something of an education for us. In the Finger Lakes it doesn’t behave like Merlot from a warmer climate, and we’ve learned not to ask it to. Here it can be bright, savory and beautifully restrained, with plum and cherry fruit rather than sheer weight. Some of our older Glacier Ridge Merlots have also reminded us how gracefully these wines can develop when given enough time.
