The Wine

The Red Newt Riesling is our expression of a richer style of Finger Lakes Riesling. Just off-dry in balance rather than overtly higher in sugar, our Riesling plays on the same tropical and orange fruit that are echoed in the Dry Riesling.

Continuing the trend of a very wet growing season, September and October continued to receive more rainfall than usual. Vineyard health and fruit development were closely monitored, but the exquisite handling of our vineyards allowed the fruit to hang through the rain events and fully dry out.  The additional hangtime allowed for additional ripening on the vine at a pivotal time and the opulence of the semi-dry Riesling showcases this beautifully.
