2020 was an exceptional vintage in the Finger Lakes. Warm and even temperatures throughout, with less than average rainfall, resulted in small berries and increased yields across the board. The mild winter preceding the growing season provided the vines with all the necessary “ingredients” to produce a larger crop without sacrificing quality. Fruit achieved a rare level of ripeness while cool nights maintained the hallmark freshness of the Finger Lakes.

2020 Viridescens

Viridescens is Red Newt’s “Winemakers’ Reserve” Red Wine.  Where the Glacier Ridge Cabernet Franc or Merlot bottlings really accentuate the full and fleshy sides of both those grapes, Viridescens seeks more elegance, balance, and nuance that rewards careful cellaring and thoughtful drinking.

55% Merlot 45% Cabernet Franc

The Merlot and Cabernet Franc are exclusively Glacier Ridge Vineyards fruit, and highlight the delightful earthy and smoky characteristic of the site.

2020 Cabernet Franc - Glacier Ridge

What a vintage to be able to make Cabernet Franc.  Lovely rich fruit of dark cherry and currant, balanced with striking smoke and earthiness which is typical of Glacier Ridge Vineyards.  This wine will age nicely for years to come, but is certainly enjoyable now. We started with ideally ripe fruit, 100% whole cluster inclusion, after fermentation was complete the wine was transferred to older French oak barriques, and aged for roughly nine months before being bottled and allowed a few years before being released for sale.

2020 Gruner Veltliner

Crisp, refreshing, and perfect for a hot summer day. 2020 was an exceptional vintage in the Finger Lakes. Warm and even temperatures throughout, with less than average, but well-spaced rainfall resulted in small berries and increased yields across the board. The mild winter preceding the growing season provided the vines with all the necessary “ingredients” to produce a larger crop without sacrificing quality.  One of the first Gruner Veltliners from Lahoma Vineyards, these grapes sit on the back portion of "the Knoll" right next to the Riesling. White pepper, flint, and crisp fruit run from the nose right through to the palate and finish.

2020 Merlot Glacier Ridge

2020 was an exceptional vintage in the Finger Lakes. 2020 Riesling - Glacier Ridge

The Riesling from Glacier Ridge vineyards is our rendition of traditional wine making. The fruit is picked whole cluster, crushed by hand (or foot), pressed through the basket press, and bucketed into barrels. No hoses or pumps are involved until the filtration process. This allows for the Glacier Ridge Riesling to truly shine, showcasing the unique aromatic and tactile characters of this grape in this vineyard.

2020 Pinot Gris

2020 was a pretty amazing year for grapes, and the color and intensity of this is a perfect example of vintage.  Rose gold in color, this Pinot Gris almost resembles a Rose, while the palate is full of golden delicious apples with a savory midpalate. This wine has the weight to pair with more robust meals, as opposed to your everyday Pinot Grigio.
