2011 Red Newt Cellars Merlot
Leaner style of MErlot from Red Newt, black pepper and cardamom with hints of cherry on the nose. Secondary characteristics of mocha cherry and braised meat and smoke in a savory on the palate with a smoked hickory finish.
A challenging harvest due to disease pressure from excessive moisture, due to excellent work in the vineyard and cellar these wines the are excellent examples how diligence in the vineyard and cellar create beautiful wines.
For over 15 years the Red Newt Bistro has had arguably the most extensive restaurant wine list of exclusively Finger Lakes wines in the world! With hundreds of wines from dozens of Finger Lakes wineries, the collection includes beautifully aged vintages… many of the wines in our cellar may not exist anywhere else. Since reducing our dinner service in 2015, these wines have been aging peacefully… but it’s time to drink them. We’ll be here until 5:00 tasting!
Have a taste, enjoy a glass, take a bottle home !
Come on in for lunch…keep a watch out for our daily Bistro specials to complement these wines.
