The Red Newt VIP Tasting Experience is a vinous treat for anyone. At Red Newt, our passion is wine and the discovery of the personality and history of the wine in the glass. We do this by peering past the preconceptions, and focusing on the personality and expression of the vineyard. Winemaking paths and vinification techniques are part of the discussion, and a delightful food pairing designed by the Bistro chef, Jeremy Personius, is part of the experience. We are excited to share these wines with you!
This tasting is limited to 10 people, by reservation, and is curated exclusively by one of the Red Newt team with in depth insights and commentary on the wines and the food.

2014 Riesling – the Knoll
An even harvest with several dry and sunny stretches that helped both for ripening and selecting harvest dates. The gradual cooling down of post-harvest into winter did occur slightly earlier than normal, around the third week of October as opposed to early November. Four weeks prior to harvest, 40% of the clusters were handpicked to allow the remainder of block to concentrate ripe flavors rather than just sugar (initial harvest made into “2014 Lahoma Vineyards Riesling” bottling.) 177 cases produced.

2013 Riesling – the Knoll
A warm and relatively wet year led to explosive vegetative growth and a heavier fruit set than is typical. Pristine looking vineyard on a well drained knoll above the rest of Lahoma Vineyards; yields were 50% above average. Pristine vineyard Farmed mostly in the manner of Harlan Fulkerson; meticulous mowing, hedging, and weed control. 220 cases produced

2013 Riesling – the Big H
“The Big H” is named in honor of Harlan Fulkerson, the illustrious grower who makes Lahoma one of our favorite vineyards to work with. With a personality larger than life, we hope this off-dry Riesling lives up to both Harlan’s reputation and the quality and opulence of the Riesling grapes he delivers to us. 120 cases produced.
Wine Advocate – 91 points
2013 Lahoma Vineyards
Lahoma Vineyard Riesling is always overwhelmingly orange-fruit driven from the moment it arrives as picked grapes at Red Newt. This wine seeks to bottle that joyful fruit expression of tangerine and apricot every year in its most exuberant form. Modeled off the balance point of a German Kabinett, it is juicy to drink when young but has the sugar and freshness to reward cellar aging. 450 cases produced

2011 Lahoma Vineyards
A long, warm growing season in 2011 yielded plenty of ripe flavors and natural sugar ripeness. Bouts of rain at harvest time introduced richness and complexity of botrytis. The warmer vintage provided Red Newt Riesling the opportunity to express warmer vintage characteristics such as honey, baked apricots, and luscious red apples while still retaining their traditional acid backbone. 240 cases produced
