2006 Anthony Road Dry Riesling

Nose of honey-lemon, kettle popcorn. Palate is medium weight with rich orange curd. Finish with slight citrus pith and citrus reduction. Showing well, time to enjoy.

Winemakers’ Library Wednesday!

For over 15 years the Red Newt Bistro 2008 Red Newt Pinot Noir - 2008 Treleaven Gewurztraminerhas had arguably the most extensive restaurant wine list of exclusively Finger Lakes wines in the world!   With hundreds of wines from dozens of Finger Lakes wineries, the collection includes beautifully aged vintages… many of the wines in our cellar may not exist anywhere else.  Since reducing our dinner service in 2015, these wines have been aging peacefully… but it’s time to drink them.  We’ll be here until 6:30 tasting!

This week we’ve opened up two terrific wines from the past:

2008 RNC Pinot Noir
Leather, cherry, raspberry, and cardamom in the nose. Palate is fresh with delicate cherry jam and leather. Finish is long and understated. Showing it’s age beautifully.

2008 Treleaven Gewurztraminer
Honeysuckle in nose. Spy gold apple, honey, orange pith, candied orange rind. Finish is tight, fresh and moderately astringent. Still lively, and great to enjoy now.

All day on Wednesday, or until the wine is sold out, we’ll offer these wines by the taste and by the glass. Wines will be available for purchase for the next few days, or until they are gone!
Have a taste, enjoy a glass, take a bottle home !

Come on in for lunch…keep a watch out for our daily Bistro specials to complement these wines.

Red Newt Bistro – Best Winery Restaurants in America

The Bistro at Red Newt, Red Newt Cellars, Hector, NY

First established alongside the Red Newt Cellars by Debra Whiting in 1998, the Red Newt Bistro has always celebrated the region’s best farmers—and without patting themselves on the back for it too much. The winery gained early acclaim as one of the top Riesling producers in the Finger Lakes. After Whiting passed away in 2011, the Bistro has morphed into a friendly counter-service operation under the direction of chef Jeremy Personius, with modern comfort-food favorites ranging from a kale Caesar salad to kimchi grilled cheese and griddled mac-and-cheese with ham, bacon, or pickled peppers. With a wood-burning stove and cozy interior, it’s welcoming in all seasons but especially inviting in the winter.
