Apricot, black bean and garlic scape salsa - Food demo at Fox Run Garlic Fest 2008.
On Sunday I had a great time at the 16th Annual Galic Festival at Fox Run Vineyards. This is a great event where one can feast on food laced with fresh
garlic, sample great musical entertainment, enjoy festival vendors,
flower and farm vendors and garlic farmers ready to sell their wares. This year I was invited to do a cooking demonstration using... you guessed it...garlic! I chose to prepare this simple salsa that utilizes garlic scapes. One of my favorite things to do is combine the zippy flavors of garlic, especially the scape, with the sweet succulent flavors of fruit. This unconventional salsa is great on chips, or can be used for a wide variety of other culinary endeavors. Click "Read more..." for the recipe!
Every day at Red Newt starts early with fresh bistro-baked bread.
Everything from scratch is what I do. Bread, desserts, dressings, sauces, you name it. The way I look at it, if I didn't want to spend all the time and effort to make everything as close to perfect as I can, I should be doing something else. Fortunately, I do love what I do!
