VIP Tasting – Wine and Food Together

The Red Newt VIP Tasting Experience is a vinous treat for anyone.  At Red Newt, our passion is wine and the discovery of the personality and history of the wine in the glass.  We do this by peering past the preconceptions, and focusing on the personality and expression of the vineyard.  Winemaking paths and vinification techniques are part of the discussion, and a delightful food pairing designed by the Bistro chef, Jeremy Personius, is part of the experience.   We are excited to share these wines with you!

This tasting is limited to 10 people, by reservation, and is curated exclusively by one of the Red Newt team with in depth insights and commentary on the wines and the food.

January – Cozy fireside wines

2011 Red Newt Dry Riesling

Aromas of peach, lime, and quince lead to flavors of peach and citrus on the palate.  Moderate weight is focused by crisp acidity, lean minerality and a round but firm finish.  This wine has captured the quintessential personality of Finger Lakes Riesling.

2007 Red Newt Pinot Gris – Curry Creek Vineyard

Aromas of apple blossom and tree fruit lead to an exquisitely silky mid-palate. Complex, understate flavors of lychee linger in a vibrant and richly textured finish.

2008 Red Newt Gewurztraminer – Curry Creek Vineyard

Ethereal aromas of pear and spice combine with a palate of rich, elegant textures and flavors of lychee, ripe watermelon and exotic spices.

2010 Red Newt Cabernet Franc – Glacier Ridge Vineyard

Cranberry and red cassis flavors on the palate combine with overtones of smoke, producing a wine that is ripe and rich wine with the characteristic richness and intensity of Glacier Ridge grapes.

2007 Red Newt Merlot – Glacier Ridge Vineyard

Glacier Ridge Vineyards consistently produces fruit with intense color and complex, smoky flavors.   Rich plum and blackberry give way to a remarkable and complex finish of coffee and dark plum with hints of vanilla and oak.
